How old do you have to be to attend shows at The Atlantis?
Unless otherwise posted, The Atlantis is all ages, all the time.
My child wants to attend an all ages show at The Atlantis, but I feel nervous.
We’ve been doing all ages shows for many years, but the decision to let your child come to a show here is obviously up to you as a parent. We suggest attending a show with your child so you can get a first-hand experience of how we run the venue and treat our patrons. We’re confident that once you’ve been here you’ll feel comfortable about allowing your child to come to The Atlantis.
Do I need my ID to enter the venue?
An ID is required if you plan on drinking/purchasing alcohol. Because we are an all-ages venue we take checking IDs very seriously. In compliance with D.C. law, anyone 21 and older who plans on drinking alcohol will have to show a valid, non-expired, government issued photo ID, no matter how old you think you look. Anyone without proper ID, regardless of age, will be treated as under 21 and not allowed to buy, hold or drink alcohol. This policy is strictly enforced and any violation will result in immediate ejection from the venue.
Does The Atlantis have seats?
Unless a show is advertised as seated, which is rare, our shows are general admission and standing room only. Patrons with special needs should call 202.579.9950 in advance to make arrangements.
What time should I get there to get a good place to see the show?
We like to think that there are no bad sight lines in the venue, but if you want to be right up front or along the balcony railing we suggest you arrive before doors open. Keep in mind that no matter how early you line up there may already be people ahead of you in line and you are not guaranteed any particular spot inside.
Do you have a dress code?
We only insist that you be dressed and wear shoes. Sensible footwear is strongly advised and there are occasionally shows where spiked jewelry and chains may not be allowed. Personal items such as pocket knives, pepper spray, flasks, outside food and drinks or anything that could be considered dangerous or contraband will not be allowed in the building. Purses and bags will be searched prior to entry.
Do you have a coat check?
We do, but it is a seasonal thing @ $2.00 per item. During warmer weather there will not be a place to check jackets or bags. Friends with Benefits members get 1 item checked for free.
What is your smoking policy?
Smoking is not permitted inside the venue or on the rooftop. DC has an indoor smoking ban, however most nights we allow re-entry, and should you want to smoke we will let you in and out.
Are you near the metro?
Yes, we are 2 blocks from the Green Line U St / African American Civil War Memorial / Cardozo Station. Make sure you exit toward 10th Street to be closest to the venue. For details about the U Street station, including last train times, click here.
I’m driving, how do I get to The Atlantis?

Parking is available online in advance for $20 (plus applicable fees), and at the lot on the night of the show for $25, pending availability. (If purchasing online, please make sure you select the date that corresponds to the show you are attending!) Note: On-site parking is credit only, no cash.
